INEC Alerts Nigerians on Fake 2026 Ad-hoc Staff Recruitment Website
January 09, 2026
INEC has warned Nigerians to stay away from a fake website claiming to recruit ad-hoc staff for the 2026 elections, stressing that only its official platform should be used.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned Nigerians about a fake and unauthorised website claiming to be the “INEC Ad-hoc Staff Recruitment Portal 2026.”
In a statement issued on Tuesday, INEC said the website https://okripeti.org/Inec-ADhoc-Staff-Recruitment.html
is not connected to the Commission in any way and should not be used.
The Commission explained that all information and application forms found on the website are false and were created to mislead members of the public.
INEC said the fake site is being used to deceive people who are interested in working as ad-hoc staff during elections.
According to the Commission, recruitment of ad-hoc staff is done only through its official online platform called INECPRES. Any other website claiming to carry out INEC recruitment is fake and unauthorised.
INEC stated that the only approved links for the 2026 FCT Area Council Election ad-hoc staff recruitment are:
🌐 Web & iOS: https://pres.inecnigeria.org
📱 Android App: https://presmobile.inecnigeria.org
The Commission advised Nigerians to be careful and always confirm recruitment information from INEC’s official websites.
INEC also warned applicants not to share sensitive personal details such as BVN, passwords, OTPs, or bank information on unofficial platforms. Nigerians were advised to always check that recruitment websites end with inecnigeria.org.
Those who may have already registered on the fake portal were asked to stop immediately and reapply only through the official INEC recruitment platforms.
INEC assured the public that it remains committed to protecting Nigerians from fraud and ensuring transparency in its recruitment process.
